Toddler Birthday decor

Nothing gets me more excited than elevating a classic theme. For months Penny had been shouting from the rooftops, “I want a mickey mouse birthday”. Challenge accepted little one. If you know one thing about me, it’s that I love to take what most would consider a mundane task, fill it with color and job and pour every ounce of my free time into creating magic. 3 year old Mickey Soiree has entered the chat.

STEP ONE: Research

We shall start at the start. The second an idea pops into my brain, it’s off to the races. Pinterest is my tried and true resource, with millions of different posts to get the juices flowing. Now to be honest, while it is amazing to see all of the ideas and top tier execution, it can also be overwhelming! If I have learned nothing else, it’s give yourself plenty of time to weed out the ideas.

STEP TWO: Mock Up

Once I’ve created a sold selection of inspiration images, it’s time to begin executing. I’m the type of person that needs to physically create a mock up, otherwise it’s just ideas floating around in my brain. This is the trial and error phase. What works? What doesn’t? What looks great, but realistically provides no function? I’ve made a LOT of things that are beautiful but serve essentially no purpose. Sometimes the purpose is just that their pretty, but for a toddler soiree, we want function people : )

STEP THREE: Execution

It’s party time! You’ve laid the groundwork for an amazing event and it’s time to kick it into high gear. All of the hard work and planning has finally come together, and it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Set realistic exceptions, there will likely be one element that doesn’t go as planned, but that’s ok! The reality is that no one will notice and your event will be absolutely spectacular nonetheless!
